360. Patrimonio: a Sea of Corruption Sold as Paradise
The documentary Patrimonio follows through the resistance that a group of fisherman in Todos Santos, Baja California lead against the corporation Black Creek that is building the Tres Santos compound that sells the idea of ‘sustainable living’ by illegally invading an area that is essential for the fisherman to do their job, along with causing massive strain in water resources and disrupting the homeostasis of the environment by the beach.
It takes a person that is well informed to conduct the steps to get to eventually prevent further developments… but we get to follow in detail the unfortunately usual stories of the levels of corruption that exist at various levels in Mexico that enable this kind of abuses because of… Money.
It is also a cautionary tale for anyone that wants to invest money into a house in the beach areas here in Mexico where you may not be aware of how the population is being impacted by those new developments, or what is behind the selling of a ‘paradise like’ place. Best to be an informed consumer instead of being sold an illusion that is literally unsustainable.

Get to know this man, John Moreno who to me is quite an admirable person all the way for having the courage and knowledge to keep the fishermen afloat in their case.
